அல்லவை தேய அறம்பெருகும் நல்லவை

நாடி இனிய சொலின்.

Pursuing virtue in the goodness of

fruitful words vanishes harm.

பொருள்:

நன்மை பயக்கும் சொற்களை ஆராய்ந்து, இனிமை உடையவற்றை ஒருவன் சொன்னால், அவனுக்குப் பாவங்கள் தேய - அறம் வளரும்.

மகாபாரத போர் முடிந்த பின்னர் ஒரு நாள், அஸ்தினாபுர அரண்மனையின் மாடத்திலிருந்தபடி கீழே நகர் முழுவதையும் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தாள் திரௌபதி.

ஒரு சில ஆண்களைத் தவிர, விதவைப் பெண்களே அதிகமாகக் காணப்பட்டார்கள். அநாதைகள் அங்குமிங்குமாய்த் திரிவதைக் கண்டாள். இவை அனைத்துக்கும் தானே காரணம் என்றெண்ணி அவள் மனம் குறுகுறுத்தது.

அப்பொழுது பகவான் கிருஷ்ணர் அங்கே வருகிறார். அவரைக் கண்டதும் திரௌபதி அழத் தொடங்கினாள்.

“என்ன நடந்தது?” என்று கிருஷ்ணர் கேட்டார். அவள் எதுவும் சொல்லாமல் அமைதியாக இருந்தாள். அவளுடைய எண்ணத்தைப் புரிந்துகொண்ட கிருஷ்ணர் பேசத் தொடங்கினார்.

“திரௌபதி, விதி மிகவும் கொடூரமானது. நாம் நினைப்பது போல வேலை செய்யாது. நம்முடைய செயல்கள், பேச்சுகள், சிந்தனைகளுக்கு ஏற்ப, அது, அதன் போக்கில் அதன் செயல்களைச் செய்கிறது. நீ பழிவாங்க நினைத்தாய். வெற்றி பெற்றாய். துரியோதனனும், துச்சாதனனும் மட்டுமல்ல, கௌரவர்கள் அனைவருமே மடிந்து போய்விட்டார்கள். இப்பொழுது ஏன் வருத்தத்துடன் இருக்கிறாய்? நீ மகிழ்ச்சியாக இருக்க வேண்டும்” என்றார்.

“என் காயங்களை ஆற்ற வந்தீர்களா அல்லது அதன் மீது உப்புத் தூவ வந்தீர்களா?”

“திரௌபதி, உண்மையை உணர்த்தவே வந்திருக்கிறேன். உனது தொலை நோக்குப் பார்வையற்ற செயல்களின் விளைவே இது.”

“இந்தப் போருக்கு நான்தான் முழுப் பொறுப்பா?”

“இல்லை திரௌபதி. நீ மட்டும் காரணமல்ல. ஆனால், நீயும் ஒரு காரணம். உன் செயல்களில் கொஞ்சம் தொலை நோக்குப் பார்வை கொண்டிருந்தால் இவ்வளவு துன்பங்கள் அனுபவித்திருக்க மாட்டாய்.”

“நான் என்ன செய்திருக்க முடியும் கிருஷ்ணா?”

“நீ நிறையச் செய்திருக்க முடியும். உனது சுயம்வரம் நடந்த போது கர்ணனை அவமானப்படுத்தாமல் போட்டியில் கலந்து கொள்ளும் வாய்ப்பை அளித்திருந்தால் ஒரு வேளை முடிவு வேறாக இருந்திருக்கும். ‘பார்வையற்றவரின் மகன்கள் குருடர்கள்’ என்று சொல்லி உனது அரண்மனையில் துரியோதனனை அவமானப்படுத்தினாய். நம் வார்த்தைகள் கூடப் பல நேரங்களில் பல விளைவுகளுக்கும் காரணமாகிவிடும் திரௌபதி. பேசுவதற்கு முன் யோசித்துப் பேச வேண்டும். அதன் விளைவுகள் உன்னை மட்டுமல்ல, உனது சுற்றுப்புறத்தையே மகிழ்ச்சியற்றதாக ஆக்கிவிடும்.”

திரௌபதி சற்றே அமைதியானாள்.

பேசும் வார்த்தைகளில் விஷம் தரும் ஒரே விலங்கு இவ்வுலகில் மனிதன் மட்டுமே! எனவே வார்த்தைகளை அறத்துடன் பயன்படுத்தவேண்டும். யாருடைய மனதையும் புண்படுத்தாதபடி சிந்தித்துப் பேச வேண்டும். நல்லதை நினைத்து, நல்லதே பேசி, நல்லதே செய்தால், விதி நல்லதை நடத்திக் கொடுக்கும்.

இந்தக் கருத்து மகாபாரதக் கதையில் மறைந்திருக்கிறது.

One day after the Mahabharata war ,

Thiroupathy, being in the Hasthinapura palace's balcony, was watching the country below.

Except for a few males, many others were widows in addition to orphans wandering here and there.

She felt guilty thinking that she was the reason for all those tragedies.

Lord Krishna came there. Thiroupathy started crying on seeing him.

'What happened?' Krishna asked. She kept silent without any reply. On knowing her thoughts, Krishna started to talk.

'Thiroupathy, fate is fearful and horrible. It doesn't work as we prefer. According to our thoughts and activities fate reacts accordingly by itself.

You wanted to take revenge, and had won. Not only Duriyothana and Durchadhana, but the whole of Gourawas were dead. Now, why do you feel sorry? Actually, you have to be happy!'

'Did you come here to console me or to rub salt in the wounds of my heart?' Thiroupathy asked Krishna.

'No Thiroupathy. I just came to make you realise the fact that this is due to the absence in your visionary thinking.'

'So, am I the only person responsible for this war?'

'No. It's not only you. But, you also would be one of the reasons. If you have ever reacted with foresight, things wouldn't have gone so bad and you also wouldn't have experienced the sorrow.'

'Krishna, what should I have done then?'

'There are so many things. In your Suyamvara if you have provided a chance for Karna to participate, maybe the ending would be different. In your palace, you insulted Duriyodhana saying, 'the sons of the blind are also blinds.' If this didn't happen, sometimes, the physical harassment you experienced in the palace might have been avoided. Our words even cause many problems. You have to think before you say anything.'

Thiroupathy then kept silent.

The only animals producing poison with their words are definitely the human beings of the world.

One has to use their words with foresight so as to not hurt others feelings.

Thinking good, talking good and doing good fate is sure to give us good things. Fruitful words become important in life.

The epic Mahabharata has this concept in it.
