"எழுமை எழு பிறப்பும் உள்ளுவர் தங்கண்

விழுமம் துடைத்தவர் நட்பு".

The memory of those who help heal grief and pain,

Shall be cherished forever in gratitude.

பொருள்: தம்முடைய துன்பத்தைப் போக்கி உதவியவரின்

நட்பைப் பல்வேறு வகையான பிறவியிலும் மறக்காமல்

போற்றுவர் பெரியோர்.

The good remember through all seven births,

the friends who wiped their tears.

பகவான் கிருஷ்ணரைத் தரிசிக்கும் போது மட்டுமல்ல..

அவரை நினைத்துக் கொண்டாலும் கூட, நம் எல்லோர்க்கும் தெரிவது -

அவரது கையில் இருக்கும் புல்லாங்குழலும் அவருடைய சிரசை

அலங்கரிக்கும் அழகிய மயில் இறகும் தான். அவ்வாறு, தன் சிரசை

அலங்கரிப்பதற்கு பகவான் கிருஷ்ணர் மயிலிறகைக் குறிப்பாக ஏன்

தெரிவு செய்தார் என்பதற்கு ஒரு நெகிழ்ச்சியான காரணம் உண்டு.

திரேதா யுகத்தில் ராமரும் சீதா பிராட்டியும்

வனவாசம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்த போது ஒரு சமயம், அவர்களுக்கு

மிகுந்த தாகம் ஏற்பட்டது. பொறுக்க முடியாத தாகத்தினால்

சீதை ராமரிடம் கேட்டார்;

"எனக்குத் தண்ணீர் வேண்டும் சுவாமி.. எப்படியாவது தண்ணீர்

இருக்கும் இடம் தேடித் கண்டுபிடியுங்கள்" என்று.

ராமர், தண்ணீர் வேண்டி, இயற்கைத் தாயான

பூமித்தாயைப் பிரார்த்தனை செய்தார். அப்போது அங்கே மயில் ஒன்று

வந்தது.

"தண்ணீர் எங்கே இருக்கிறது என்று எனக்குத் தெரியும்..

என்னைப் பின் தொடர்ந்து வாருங்கள்" என்று இவர்களிடம் கூறியது.

காடு அல்லவா? நீண்ட தூரம் செல்லவேண்டும்..

அதனால், இவர்கள் வழி தவறிடாமல் இருக்க வேண்டி,

அடையாளத்துக்காக - மயில் தன் இறகை ஒவ்வொன்றாகப் பிரித்து,

போகும் பாதையில் போட்டுக் கொண்டே சென்றது. ராமரும் சீதையும்

மயில் சென்ற பாதையைப் பின் தொடர்ந்தார்கள்.

நீண்ட தூர நடைக்குப் பின் இருவரும் ஒரு

குளத்தைக் கண்டு, ஆனந்தம் மேலிட தண்ணீர் அருந்தினார்கள்.

அவர்கள் திரும்பி வந்த போது, சற்றுத் தூரத்தில் அந்த மயில்

இறந்து கிடப்பதைக் கண்டார்கள். இறகுகளைப் பிடுங்கிப் போட்டு

வழி காட்டிய காரணத்தினால் தான் மயில் இறந்து விட்டது என்பதை

நினைத்து ராமர் மிகவும் மனம் வருந்தினார்.

"என்னுடைய எந்தப் பிறவியிலும் உன்னை நான் மறக்கமாட்டேன்"

என்று நெஞ்சம் நெகிழ்ந்து மனமுருகிய படி கூறினார் ராமபிரான்.

அதன் பிறகு, யுகங்கள் பல கடந்து பிறந்த

கிருஷ்ணாவதாரத்துக்கும், அந்த மயிலின் நினைவாகவே அதன் இறகைத் -

தன் முடியில் கிருஷ்ண பரமாத்மா சூடிக்கொண்டார் என்பது ஐதீகம்.

When we pray Lord Krishna or worship him

within our thoughts, we could see the flute in

his hands and the beautiful feather of peacock

decorating his head.

For Lord Krishna to choose peacock's

feather in particular to decorate his head, there is an

emotional reason which many of us do not know.

Rama Avatar occurred during the

Thretha Era. Rama and Sita, when they were living

in the jungle, once they got very thirsty and couldn't

find any water closeby, Rama prayed to the Goddess

of earth to provide water. Then came a peacock there, saying,

"I know the place where the water is.. you follow me

and I'll show you the place."

Since they had to walk a long way,

the peacock being conscious that Rama and Sita might

miss the pathway, tore off its feather one by one and

dropped it along the pathway in order to make them

follow the correct route.

They two finally reached a pond,

happily consumed water and got rid of their thirst.

On returning, they saw the peacock

lying dead within a short distance.

Rama realised the fact that, only

due to losing its feathers, the peacock would have died

and regretted for the same.

"Whichever birth I may get, I won't forget you!"

Rama told emotionally with a high sense of gratitude.

Lord Krishna would always be remembered

by everyone with the beautiful peacock's feather

on his head.
